Katie Price makes shock confession about Peter Andre split 16 years on

Katie Price has revealed that she hasn’t talked to Peter Andre since their split 16 years ago.

The former glamour model, 45, and the Mysterious Girl singer, 52, famously hit it off in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! jungle in 2004, and married a year later before welcoming kids Junior, 19, and Princess, 17.

Now in a candid interview on Paul Brunson’s podcast We Need to Talk, Katie has reflected on the marriage and their shock split.

When asked to clear up the rumours about who cheated on who in her relationship with Pete, Katie responded: ‘We broke up because he thought I was having an affair with my dressage rider, and I’ve never slept with him.

‘I just kept my horse there, and I was happy keeping my horse there, and he was married.

‘But when me and Pete split, because he used to keep saying, “That’s it. I’ve had enough. I’ve had enough.”

‘It got to a point where I went, “Well, divorce me”. I remember the day, because then I flew to the Maldives with the kids.

‘That day, I’m at the airport, it’s all on Sky News, it wasn’t mutual at all. And then I redone a statement saying I don’t want to split with Pete, it’s Pete that’s splitting with me.

‘Until this day, me and Pete have never sat down and spoken about it.’

Shocked at the news Katie and Pete haven’t spoken since this moment, even through years of co-parenting, Paul asked how they managed the kids.

‘It was all through lawyers. I’ve never sat down with him, we probably would’ve sorted it out, but we were kept apart,’ she said.

When asked whether, if given the opportunity, Katie would sit down with Pete on Paul’s podcast, she responded: ‘Yeah, I would.’

Pete is now married to Emily MacDonagh, and the pair share kids Amelia, 11, Theo, nine, and Arabella, 13 months.

Meanwhile, Katie has also moved on, having re-married twice to Alex Reid from 2013 to 2021, and Kieran Hayler from 2010 to 2012.

She is now with Married at First Sight star JJ Slater, who she referred to in the podcast episode as the ‘kindest, most genuine, easygoing, chilled person’.

However, when faced with Paul’s two signs of a healthy relationship – that life is better when you are with them and you feel free – she admitted to feeling neither with JJ.

‘But do I feel my most happiest and do I feel free? No,’ she said, adding: ‘It’s not a reflection on him, maybe that’s what I need to change for myself.’

Elsewhere, Katie opened up about her horrific experiences at the hands of men over the years, which date back to when she was raped at the age of seven.

Therapy has helped, Katie reflected.

‘I am free and I am light. I don’t feel heaviness, I can sleep at night. Because I started communicating and things get better,’ she said.

‘It’s like a flower, everything opens, it’s like a different world. The world is like an oyster and I’m in control of my destiny now.’

Katie entered the jungle at the height of her fame, and Pete hoped to relaunch himself after his Mysterious Girl success in the 1990s. The pair fell in love on screen.

Katie and Pete welcomed Junior Savva Andreas Andre, their first child together.

Reflecting on the name choice in 2023 on her podcast, Katie said: ‘Junior is quite an American name and my granddad’s brother was called Junior. But the reason I named him Junior was because he was a mini Pete.

‘I didn’t want to name Junior Savvas because that is what Pete’s dad is called and I am not Greek, so I made it clear that I didn’t want to follow the Greek tradition.

‘There was lots of arguments about it but anyway we came up with Junior.’

Katie later said they chose the first part of her name because she was ‘our princess’.

‘Katie always loved the name Princess but everyone thought it was a bit over the top,’Peter told OK! Magazine in 2007.

‘I loved it too but I wanted to name her after both our mums. Then I just woke up one morning and thought, “I know! We’ll just put them together! If people don’t like it, that’s up to them.”‘

So they called their daughter Princess Tiaamii Crystal Esther Andre.

2009Katie and Pete announce shock split

The pair both applied for a divorce on the grounds of unreasonable behaviour, as per the BBC. Neither gave a reason for the split at the time.

The model has twice called the singer ‘the love of her life’ and said she never wanted them to break up.
