Polish musician DJ Hazel has been found dead at the age of 44 under ‘mysterious circumstances’.

The body of Michał Orzechowski, professionally known as DJ Hazel, was discovered in a car parked near Skępe, Lipno County, in Poland.

His body was found on May 7, and the unclear circumstances surrounding his death have prompted an investigation from police, according to reports from TVP3 Bydgoszcz.

Małgorzata Małkińska, a police spokeswoman in Lipno, confirmed when his body was discovered and that authorities are attempting to clarify the situation, per the Pinnacle Gazette.

Tributes have begun to pour in for the late performer, with fans and friends from the music industry paying their respects to the late artist.

Polish DJ Pawbeats said on Facebook in polish: ‘DJ Hazel is dead, I can’t believe it. Michał was one of the first who wasn’t afraid of totally “unacceptable” combinations for those times, like playing “Weź piórkę” with Pawbeats Orchestra at Przystanek Woodstock.

‘Thank you for the most famous bubble in Poland, for those 15 bubbles, for being a total dude with an inimitable distance and a mine of anecdotes at every meeting in Bydgoszcz (and not only). My heart breaks.’

DJ C-Bool added on Facebook: ‘Michael … DJ Hazel I can’t believe this… why? So long, my friend… Farewell Legend! I’ll remember you in this picture. Condolences to all the family.’

‘My heart breaks at the news of the death of DJ Hazel- a true Polish patriot. His music was amazing, full of energy and passion. My condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace Hazel. Your music will never die,’ said MichalGajeno.

‘DJ Hazel, a Pole, a legend, has died. He should be in national mourning,’ said veilsofserenity.

After launching his career in the 90s, the late DJ was a key figure on the Polish electronic music scene.

He played at hundreds of club events throughout his career and collaborated with various Polish artists.

The performer was best known for his techno, electro house, progressive house, trance, hard trance and hardstyle music.

He was born in Warsaw and became known across Europe, and was nicknamed the Fastest Hands of Europe.
