The truth about Lisa Manobal’s eye-catching Met Gala outfit has now been revealed, after fans questioned whether Rosa Parks’ face had been sewn into her underwear.

Some of the biggest stars headed to the most exclusive red carpet of the year on Monday night, with Halle Berry, Angela Bassett, Joey King, and Diana Ross among the most fashionable faces, while Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, and Colman Domingo served as co-chairs.

Weeks after the season three finale of the White Lotus aired, the cast showed out with looks inspired by the theme of Superfine: Tailoring Black Style – Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood and Patrick Schwarzenegger won praise for their efforts.

However, the Blackpink icon, who played Mook in the series, has been called out for the intricate details in her look, with many questioning whether she was wearing underwear adorned with the face of civil rights activist Rosa Parks.

The 28-year-old opted for an embellished Louis Vuitton tailored jacket, complete with a bodysuit and tights monogrammed with the brand’s logo.

According to Vogue Magazine, American artist Henry Taylor designed the bodice, which is most visible on the crotch area.

The pattern featured the portraits of figures who were apart of his life – but it was not initially clear whether one of these depicted the activist, leading to a wave of fury being unleashed on social media.

However, it seems that the anger was for nothing as Henry’s reps have now confirmed that the portraits were all drawn from people in his personal life.

‘The figure featured in Lisa’s Louis Vuitton look is not Rosa Parks, but one of Henry’s neighbors,’ they told Vulture in a statement.

‘The faces seen on this look, as well as on previous LV garments featuring Taylor’s artwork, are all drawn from his personal life – family members, friends, and neighbors.

‘These figures come directly from Henry’s existing artworks, which he provided to LVMH for Pharrell’s debut collection with Louis Vuitton in 2023.

‘None of the individuals depicted in any of the garments are Rosa Parks or other well-known figures from Black cultural history. They are all people from Henry’s own life.’

Before the clarification, upset fans flocked to social media to share their thoughts on the superstar’s choices, branding the outfit ‘disrespectful’.

Reddit user Chadwickave wrote: ‘The idea of the patterned bodysuit is unique, but they should’ve used a different fabric for the crotch area. Awkward at best, disrespectful at worst.’

‘So inappropriate, and adding insult to injury, the “outfit” and styling are terrible – what’s the opposite of a slam dunk?,’ BeffeeJeems posted.

Concretelove said: ‘I think we all knew this theme was going to lead to at least one celebrity having a major faux pas.. I just didn’t think it was going to be THIS obviously bad.’

Louis Vuitton told the Cut that Henry Taylor created the print in question, clarifying that it depicts ‘portraits of figures who have been a part of the artist’s life’.

Lisa has also not spoken publicly against the reaction.
