href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/01\/14\/inside-love-life-former-little-mix-star-jesy-nelson-announces-pregnancy-22352047\/\">she and Zion Foster<\/a> were expecting <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/01\/14\/inside-love-life-former-little-mix-star-jesy-nelson-announces-pregnancy-22352047\/\">at the beginning of the year<\/a>, shocking Little Mix fans after her months-long social media absence. <\/p>\n<p>Ever since, she’s been posting updates of her pregnant midriff, with the most recent picture shared just yesterday. But now Jesy has opened up about the risks her unborn babies face, as she’s learnt they share a placenta.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking through tearful eyes while being comforted by Zion, Jesy said: ‘We wanted to let you in on our journey of what we’ve been going through.’<\/p>\n<p>She continued: ‘So we are having identical twins which is so exciting – we cannot believe it.<\/p>\n<p>‘But, unfortunately, there they feed off of.<\/p>\n<p>‘But when you have mono\/di twins, that means your twins live off one placenta which can lead to lots of complications – one of them being one baby might take all the nutrients which, and it’s really awful to say, but could lead to both babies dying.’ <\/p>\n<p>The singer then added: ‘I am currently pre-stage TTTS which is twin-to-twin transfusion and I am being risks? \t\t\t<\/h2>\n<div class=\"factbox-content\">\n<p>Monochorionic diamniotic (Mo-Di) twins are twins that share a placenta and therefore a blood supply. <\/p>\n<p>Around 20% of all twin pregnancies are mono\/di twins. <\/p>\n<p>The babies share a placenta (mono) but have their own amniotic sacs (diamniotic). <\/p>\n<p>While most mono\/di twins are healthy, they have a much higher risk of complications, and so are monitored closely.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) <\/h2>\n<p>Twin-twin transfusion syndrome occurs in, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/pregnancy\/mono-di-twins#risks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Healthline<\/a>, around 15 to 20% of mono\/di pregnancies. <\/p>\n<p>It happens when blood is not evenly shared between the twins.
