Jane Fonda<\/a> revealed the heroic yet harrowing moment a wild bear threatened the safety of her grandson and she fought back, because of course she did – she’s Jane Fonda.<\/p>\n

The Book Club icon, 87 confirmed the scary encounter during Netflix<\/a>’s podcast Skip Intro<\/a> alongside her son, actor Troy O’Donovan Garity. And when Troy, 51, was asked to share something people don\u2019t already know about his movie star mum, he opted for a pretty wild story.<\/p>\n

‘She pushed a bear out of her bedroom,’ the actor, whom Jane welcomed with late ex-husband Tom Hayden, told podcast<\/a> host Krista Smith.<\/p>\n

Which led to Jane to nod enthusiastically confirming the claim. <\/p>\n

At the time, Jane was in New Mexico, and ‘looking after her grandson.’ The two-time Oscar winner has two grandchildren, Malcolm and Viva Vadim.<\/p>\n

Troy continued: ‘She heard something so she left the bedroom in the middle of the night to go see what the sound was. And when she came back in, the screen door was dismantled and there was a bear in the bedroom, sniffing over the crib.’<\/p>\n

Podcast presenter Krista who was at the edge of her seat (naturally) turned to Jane and asked: ‘What did you do?’ to which Jane yelled: ‘Roar!’<\/p>\n

The Hollywood heavyweight later explained that, at the time of the incident, she ‘had just learned what to do if you\u2019re close to a bear,’ thanks to some recent training.<\/p>\n

‘And that was it. And get very big; I opened my bathrobe,’ she said,ultimately scaring the bear away, and saving her then-infant grandson Malcolm, now 25.<\/p>\n

Speaking about what happened next, Jane joked: ‘And then [it] walked back to the door and sat down and I did, I pushed it out, yeah.’<\/p>\n

It could only be Jane Fonda!<\/p>\n

Jane’s bravery hasn’t gone unnoticed in Hollywood either as she recently went viral at this year’s SAG Awards for her moving speech.<\/p>\n

The Monster In Law accepted the lifetime achievement award and used her platform to stress the importance of empathy during this politically and socially tumultuous time.<\/p>\n

In her blinding speech, the actress-activist also reminded everyone that the correct meaning of woke <\/a>\u2013 which has become a loaded word \u2013 is caring about others<\/p>\n

\u2018Make no mistake,\u2019 Jane fired off at the Shrine Auditorium in LA. \u2018Empathy is not weak or woke \u2013 and by the way, woke just means you give a damn about other people.\u2019<\/p>\n

Referring to Trump\u2019s second term as US president<\/a>, the Klute star said \u2018many will be \u2018really hurt\u2019 by his actions but urged everyone to be empathetic to those with different political views.<\/p>\n

Because we are gonna need a big tent to resist successfully what\u2019s coming at us.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>She continued: \u2018We must not isolate. We must stay in community. We must help the vulnerable. We must find ways to project an inspiring vision of the future \u2013 one that is beckoning, welcoming, that will help people believe that, to quote the novelist Pearl Cleage, \u201cOn the other side of the conflagration, there will still be love. There will still be beauty, and there will be an ocean of truth for us to swim in.\u201d Let\u2019s make it so.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Jane certainly won the internet with her speech, with X user @ghostinkissys among the many saying: \u2018Woke just means you give a damn about other people\u201d JANE FONDA I LOVE U #SAGAWARDS.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Echoing their sentiment, @JohnMartinPugh exclaimed: \u2018Yes Jane Fonda.
