A TikTok influencer <\/a>who documented her bowel cancer diagnosis<\/a> has died aged 21.<\/p>\n

Dominique McShain was only 20 years old when she was told she had \u2018incurable\u2019 colorectal cancer<\/a> that had spread to her liver in April last year.<\/p>\n

McShain, who was from Christchurch in New Zealand, had been studying psychology before receiving the devastating diagnosis.<\/p>\n

Soon after her cancer was discovered, she began documenting her treatment online, gaining almost 200,000 followers on TikTok.<\/p>\n

Although she was initially told she had up to five years to live, she died this month, just over a year since her diagnosis.<\/p>\n

Posting a \u2018final update\u2019 to Instagram, she told her followers she didn\u2019t have long to live.<\/p>\n

\u2018I have recently been given a prognosis about 5 days ago of only a few days to a few weeks to live,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

\u2018My liver is rapidly failing to the point of jaundice and the cancer is progressing quickly.<\/p>\n

\u2018Because of this I am no longer able to receive any treatments, including the chemo I\u2019ve been on for 7 months over the last year.\u2019<\/p>\n

She continued: \u2018At this point I\u2019ve transitioned to end of life care, focusing on pain relief and managing side effects, with so much time spent in both the hospital and hospice facilities.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018may be short\u2019, she had \u2018squeezed every bit out of it\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I won the lottery with a family that loves me unconditionally, friends who would 10000 per cent donate a liver to me or do anything they could (and probably argue over who gets to do it).<\/p>\n<p>\u2018And the sweetest husband Sean who has been my rock through everything \u2013 before and after diagnosis.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>She went on to detail how she\u2019d \u2018checked of all the classic teenage milestones\u2019 and \u2018big adult moments\u2019 like getting married, getting a dog and travelling.<\/p>\n<p>But, she added: \u2018Of course there are so many key adult moments I won\u2019t get to experience, things I won\u2019t get to be or have, and that\u2019s something I\u2019ve had to come to terms with.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The grief of what I\u2019m missing out on is no longer overwhelming though. Recently, I\u2019ve found a sense of acceptance.
