Ryan Gosling <\/a>has announced he will be starring in <\/a>a new Star Wars<\/a> film.<\/p>\n

The Canadian actor, 44, began his career when he was just 13 in the Disney<\/a> Channel\u2019s The All New Mickey Mouse Club.<\/p>\n

He later went on to star<\/a> in blockbuster films including <\/a>The Notebook, Crazy, Stupid, Love, La La Land, Blade Runner 2049 and Barbie.<\/p>\n

Throughout his career, Gosling\u2019s films have grossed over $2billion (\u00a31.5billion) worldwide.<\/p>\n

Now the actor is set to star in a new Star Wars film.<\/p>\n

Titled Star Wars: Starfighter, the news was announced overnight at the annual Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

The announcement of the upcoming Star Wars film was made by Lucasfilm\u2019s president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni.<\/p>\n

A press release has teased that it will be set approximately five years after the events of 2019\u2019s Star Wars: Episode IX \u2013 The Rise of Skywalker.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s so much creativity and imagination in this room and there\u2019s so much love. It\u2019s filled with so much heart and adventure, and there just really is not a more perfect filmmaker for this particular story than Shawn,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<p>During the announcement a photo that was sent in by the actor\u2019s mum also flashed on screen, showing his childhood bedroom, complete with Star Wars sheets.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018She still has them, obviously,\u2019 he joked.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Naturally, she thought that it might be something that the fans would appreciate, but I suspect that she just sort of wants to justify years of hoarding.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018As you can see from the picture, I guess I was probably dreaming about Star Wars before I even saw the film.
