data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/elton-john\/\">Elton John<\/a> isn’t done collaborating with Brandi Carlile yet as the pair join forces to offset cuts to <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/hiv\/\">HIV<\/a> and AIDS funding by <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/us-news\/\">US<\/a> President <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The singing duo are aiming to raise $1,000,000 to combat the global crisis and ‘ensure compassionate care’ reaches those who are most in need.<\/p>\n<p>On March 28,<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/16\/trump-administration-criminal-contempt-wilful-disobedience-constitution-22921882\/\"> the Trump administration<\/a> cut at least 145 grants which had been awarded $450,000,000 in <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/15\/country-of-free-speech-cancels-universitys-funding-after-refusing-to-limit-protests-22914529\/\">federal funds for researching<\/a> the illness.<\/p>\n<p>These grants provided support for scientists attempting to eradicate HIV transmission and improve quality of life for those living with it.<\/p>\n<p>The Elton John AIDS Foundation and Looking Out Foundation, founded by Brandi, have announced a new initiative to raise money to offset these cuts.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/05\/sir-elton-john-distressed-deteriorating-health-condition-affects-life-young-sons-22855775\/\">‘Who Believes in Angels<\/a>’ campaign \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/28\/sir-elton-john-reveals-one-song-doesnt-want-mentioned-gravestone-22811024\/\">named after their number one album<\/a> \u2014 will match every donation made data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/health-news\/\">health<\/a> crisis that we have both the power and the tools to prevent,’ said Sir Elton.<\/p>\n<p>He continued: ‘Our mission is more important than ever \u2013 we refuse to leave anyone behind \u2013 and I\u2019m so fortunate that Brandi is not only a wonderful collaborator and artist, but a dear friend who shares my vision of a world where HIV care is prioritised and protected.’<\/p>\n<p>Sir Elton created the foundation in 1992 but the Rocket Response Fund was launched this year after the ‘U.S. Administration\u2019s recent actions on foreign aid funding.’<\/p>\n<p>It is an emergency fundraising appeal to help sustain the lifesaving work of global initiatives that are on the ground, tackling the ongoing HIV crisis.<\/p>\n<p>In February, Sir <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/sir-keir-starmer\/\">Keir Starmer<\/a> became <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/02\/10\/sir-keir-challenges-others-follow-lead-becoming-first-pm-take-hiv-test-22519173\/\">the first G20 leader to publicly take an HIV test<\/a> in efforts to
