Johnny Depp<\/a> was the definition of unrecognizable after his latest movie transformation was revealed.<\/p>\n

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor is set to reunite with Penelope Cruz<\/a> on the big screen in their upcoming film, Day Drinker, by director Marc Webb.<\/p>\n

Production got underway yesterday, with new pictures emerging of the 61-year-old looking drastically different for his role as a \u2018mysterious\u2019 guest on board a private yacht.<\/p>\n

In the pictures, he could be seen sporting a head of grey hair and a matching beard, looking menacing in a navy suit and a blue shirt.<\/p>\n

He lent on what appeared to be a bar, clutching a drink in one hand as he ominously stared at something behind the camera.<\/p>\n

According to reports, the thriller will see Madelyn Cline star as a bartender on a swanky boat, as she befriends a secretive guest (Johnny).<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, they find themselves in choppy waters when they become entangled with a criminal (Penelope), and find that they are connected in unexpected ways.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m excited to be starting production with Johnny, Madelyn, Penelope, and this incredible cast,\u2019 Marc said in a statement via Entertainment Weekly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018We\u2019re in a beautiful location with a fantastic crew and a thrilling, ferocious story to tell. This is going to be fun.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Day Drinker combines a highly commercial concept with wildly outrageous twists and turns all set in an incredible world, and there is no better filmmaker than Marc or two more perfectly cast actors than Johnny and Pen\u00e9lope to bring that world to life,\u2019 Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson raved.<\/p>\n

Johnny has previously shared the screen with Penelope in 2001\u2019s Blow<\/a>, Murder on the Orient Express in 2017, and Pirates of the Caribbean sequel On Stranger Tides, in 2011.<\/p>\n

The Lionsgate flick marks the Oscar-nominee\u2019s first role in a film from a major distributor since his trial with ex-wife Amber Heard<\/a> made headlines around the world, in 2022.<\/p>\n

He last starred in Harry Potter prequel spin-off<\/a> Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, in 2018.<\/p>\n

Since the high-profile legal battle, in which he successfully sued the Aquaman actress for defamation<\/a>, he appeared in French period drama Jeanne du Barry in 2023, and directed Italian drama Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness last year.<\/p>\n

However, the actor rejected any talk of his Hollywood \u2018comeback\u2019<\/a> in 2023, in the wake of the trial, insisting that he didn\u2019t go anywhere.<\/p>\n

\u2018I keep wondering about the word \u201ccomeback,\u201d because I didn\u2019t go anywhere,\u2019 he said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. \u2018I live about 45 minutes away from here, in fact.<\/p>\n

\u2018Maybe people stopped calling \u2026 but I didn\u2019t go nowhere.<\/p>\n

\u2018Comeback is almost like I\u2019m going to come out and do a tap dance, dance my best and hope you approve.\u2019<\/p>\n
