{"id":3752,"date":"2025-04-02T10:39:05","date_gmt":"2025-04-02T10:39:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.isshicare.com\/?p=3752"},"modified":"2025-04-03T18:32:00","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T18:32:00","slug":"tom-fletcher-taken-to-hospital-after-looking-like-hed-been-smashed-in-the-face","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.isshicare.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/02\/tom-fletcher-taken-to-hospital-after-looking-like-hed-been-smashed-in-the-face\/","title":{"rendered":"Tom Fletcher taken to hospital after looking like he\u2019d been \u2018smashed in the face\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"363\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22835843 lazyload\" alt=\"Compilation image of Tom Fletcher on TV and in a social media post announcing his eye condition flare up\" loading=\"lazy\" data-src=\"http:\/\/www.isshicare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/SEC_246020192-d467.jpg\">\t<\/div><figcaption>Tom Fletcher suffers with an eye condition called uveitis (Picture REX \/ @tomfletcher)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/tom-fletcher\/\">Tom Fletcher<\/a> went to A&amp;E this week after <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2023\/04\/12\/mcflys-tom-fletcher-in-hospital-with-eye-condition-and-faces-six-week-recovery-18596786\/\">his autoimmune condition<\/a> uveitis flared up out of nowhere. <\/p>\n<p>The <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/mcfly\/\">McFly<\/a> singer, 39, suffers from the<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2023\/04\/12\/mcflys-tom-fletcher-in-hospital-with-eye-condition-and-faces-six-week-recovery-18596786\/\"> rare eye condition<\/a>, which if left untreated can lead to vision loss and blindness. <\/p>\n<p>Taking to <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/instagram\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">Instagram<\/a>, Tom took a selfie of the flare up and explained how hewill have to take six weeks of eye drops. <\/p>\n<p>Showing his asymmetrical face with one eye squinted and downcast, the Strictly star said: &#8216;My autoimmune thing flared up out of nowhere last night.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Woke up feeling (and looking) like I&#8217;d been smashed in the face! <\/p>\n<p>&#8216;This is after it had calmed down and I could see again!&#8217; <\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"636\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22835731 lazyload\" alt=\"Celebrity Sightings In London - September 12, 2023\" loading=\"lazy\" data-src=\"http:\/\/www.isshicare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/GettyImages-1675735036-e1743589046252.jpg\">\t<\/div><figcaption>The McFly star has suffered flare ups in the past (Picture: Neil Mockford\/GC Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Also commenting &#8216;uveitis sucks&#8217;, Tom said this was not the day he had planned. <\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t the first time Tom has been rushed to hospital with the eye condition. <\/p>\n<p>In December 2022 Tom revealed he was going to be staying in &#8216;dark rooms&#8217; with sunglasses on while taking 6 weeks of steroids after a flare up, as he finished off the post with: &#8216;Merry Christmas.&#8217;<\/p>\n<div class=\"factbox\" data-ico=\"factbox_article\" data-track-module=\"factbox_article\">\n<h2 class=\"factbox-title\">\n\t\t\t\tWhat is uveitis? \t\t\t<\/h2>\n<div class=\"factbox-content\">\n<p>Uveitis, also known as iritis, is a rare condition that causes inflammation inside part of your eye.<\/p>\n<p>Early treatment is important to prevent long-term complications including blindness. <\/p>\n<p>Symptoms of uveitis can include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>eye pain, which may feel worse when you&#8217;re reading<\/li>\n<li>red or watery eyes<\/li>\n<li>reduced or blurred vision<\/li>\n<li>sensitivity to light<\/li>\n<li>lights in the corner of your eyes or dark spots (flashes and floaters)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You may get some or all of these symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms can develop quickly, in hours and days, or more gradually over weeks and months.
