The service, depending on the tier you&#8217;re subscribed to, currently offers access to Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/sega\/\">Sega<\/a> Mega Drive, NES, SNES, and Game Boy titles.<\/p>\n<p>Access to GameCube games on the service will be exclusive to Switch 2 owners who have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, which currently costs \u00a334.99 for 12 months individually, or \u00a359.99 for a year-long family subscription.<\/p>\n<p>At the Switch 2&#8217;s launch, there will be three GameCube games available: The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, and SoulCalibur 2 with Link as a playable character.<\/p>\n<p>While all three are great games, the highlight of the line-up is F-Zero GX, although some might be disappointed it&#8217;s not a proper remaster. This version, however, does include small visual improvements and the ability to play with up to four players either locally or online.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Nintendo GameCube - Nintendo Classics \u2013 Nintendo Direct | Nintendo Switch 2\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0MvkSVs8f_w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker has already been <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2013\/09\/17\/the-legend-of-zelda-the-wind-waker-hd-review-celda-returns-4042304\/\">remastered for the Wii U<\/a>, with significant gameplay and visual improvements. A Switch port of this remaster has been heavily rumoured for a while, but it&#8217;s unclear if the existence of this GameCube version on Switch makes a port of the Wii U version unlikely. <\/p>\n<p>Nintendo also teased several other GameCube titles coming to the service in the future, although no specific release dates were given. These are listed below.<\/p>\n<div class=\"factbox\" data-ico=\"factbox_article\" data-track-module=\"factbox_article\">\n<h2 class=\"factbox-title\">\n\t\t\t\tAll GameCube games coming to Switch 2\t\t\t<\/h2>\n<div class=\"factbox-content\">\n<p><strong>Confirmed at launch:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>F-Zero GX<\/li>\n<li>The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker<\/li>\n<li>SoulCalibur 2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Coming soon:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Super Mario Sunshine<\/li>\n<li>Super Mario Strikers<\/li>\n<li>Chibi-Robo<\/li>\n<li>Pok\u00e9mon XD: Gale of Darkness<\/li>\n<li>Pok\u00e9mon Colosseum<\/li>\n<li>Luigi&#8217;s Mansion<\/li>\n<li>Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Beyond the games themselves, Nintendo also announced a wireless GameCube controller will be released on the same day as the Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. This will be available from the My Nintendo Store and will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online members, like the previous Nintendo 64 and NES controllers.<\/p>\n<p>As noted on the <a href=\"https:\/\/store.nintendo.co.uk\/en\/nintendo-switch-2\">store&#8217;s website<\/a> though, it will only be initially available to those who are invited to pre-order the Switch 2 console, with the controller priced at \u00a358.99.<\/p>\n<p>While it certainly isn&#8217;t cheap to access these games, this does present a viable way to play some GameCube obscurities which are currently very expensive to buy physically, such as Chibi-Robo and Pok\u00e9mon XD: Gale of Darkness.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s harder to excuse the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/24\/nintendo-switch-2-reaction-divides-fans-high-price-games-22780987\/\">price of actual Switch 2 games<\/a> though, with the physical edition of Mario Kart World set to cost \u00a374.99, while the digital version costs \u00a366.99.
