<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/millie-bobby-brown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Millie Bobby Brown<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/chris-pratt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chris Pratt<\/a>, but fans of the original novel have ripped apart the movie\u2019s final trailer.<\/p>\n<p>Following the trailer dropping on Monday, people have accused the sci-fi <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/comedy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">comedy<\/a> action film of \u2018butchering\u2019 the source material, after being left baffled by the teaser.<\/p>\n<p>The streamer has <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/08\/31\/upcoming-netflix-movie-took-7-years-and-320-000-000-make-21525649\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">spent a reported $320million (\u00a3266m) on the movie<\/a>, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/marvel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marvel<\/a> filmmakers having worked for over seven years to bring their version of the story to the screen.<\/p>\n<p>New footage shows <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/04\/mortified-matt-lucas-apologises-millie-bobby-brown-little-britain-comparison-22663283\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stranger Things star Brown, 21<\/a>, as Michelle, <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/10\/18\/millie-bobby-brown-reveals-surprising-phase-missed-a-teenager-21824429\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an orphaned teenager<\/a>, teaming up with Chris Pratt\u2019s drifter Keats on a mission to find her missing younger brother in the dangerous \u2018exclusion zone\u2019 following a robot war in the film\u2019s retro-futuristic take on the 90s.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We have a chance to tear their whole sick system down,\u2019 she\u2019s heard saying, as she urges humans and bots to \u2018fight together against the real enemy\u2019, and their motely crew is seen squaring up to fight as Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch\u2019s Good Vibrations is heard blaring out of a speaker system.<\/p>\n<div There\u2019s a huge market for contemplative movies and complex sci-fi,\u2019 added @Severian1.<\/p>\n<p>Another user, @EvanSquaredson, identified themselves as a huge fan of both the Russo brothers and St\u00e5lenhag but described the trailer as \u2018profoundly false and glib, a bad joke\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Honestly, I wish both the Russo Brothers and St\u00e5lenhag great success at everything they do, but I also wish the two had never met, based on this.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>On the publisher\u2019s website, St\u00e5lenhag\u2019s graphic novel, set in 1997, is described as \u2018Stranger Things meets On the Road\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>However, Netflix is likely to have great hopes for The Electric State as the Russos helmed one of the streamer\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/06\/05\/bland-netflix-film-left-critics-cold-becomes-unlikely-top-film-2024-20974245\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong> most-watched films of all time <\/strong><\/a>in <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2022\/07\/20\/the-gray-man-review-ryan-goslings-200000000-netflix-snooze-fest-17026378\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>The Gray Man in 2022<\/strong><\/a>.
