NOTE TO EDITORS: This picture must only be used to accompany PA Feature SHOWBIZ Film Venom.\" loading=\"lazy\" data-src=\"http:\/\/www.isshicare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/SEI_227563130-8983.jpg\">\t<\/div><figcaption>Tom Hardy starred in Venom: The Last Dance in 2024 (Picture: Sony Pictures)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/venom\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">Venom<\/a>: The Last Dance has soared to the top spot on <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/netflix\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">Netflix<\/a>\u2019s global charts, despite being met with a wave of dismal reviews.<\/p>\n<p><a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/tom-hardy\/\">Tom Hardy<\/a> reprised his role as Eddie Brock in the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/10\/25\/unforgivably-sloppy-venom-sequel-rivals-joker-2-worst-superhero-movie-ever-21868057\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">third and final instalment of the Marvel superhero trilogy<\/a>, which hit the big screen in October, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The 47-year-old was joined in his latest adventure by <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/chiwetel-ejiofor\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">Chiwetel Ejiofor<\/a>, Stephen Graham, Rhys Ifans and Juno Temple, with Kelly Marcel serving as director.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/10\/24\/official-tom-hardy-wearing-a-tux-new-venom-film-a-play-james-bond-role-21861431\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The sequel followed both Eddie and Venom<\/a> as they went on the run and found themselves separately hunted by police for the death of Mulligan (Stephen) \u2013 while also fending off government official Rex Strickland\u2019s (Chiwetel) team as well as a suitably creepy\u00a0Xenophage monster.<\/p>\n<p>Although the flick left critics less than impressed, this did nothing to turn off viewers as Venom: The Last Dance dominated the Netflix charts for the last week.<\/p>\n<div class=\"factbox\" data-ico=\"factbox_article\" data-track-module=\"factbox_article\">\n<h2 class=\"factbox-title\">\n\t\t\t\tGet personalised updates on all things Netflix\t\t\t<\/h2>\n<div class=\"factbox-content\">\n<p> Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro&#8217;s TV Newsletter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/newsletters\/tv-newsletter\/?ito=tv-article&#038;signup-source=tv-article-link\">Sign up to our newsletter<\/a> and then select your show in the link we&#8217;ll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Within days of being added to the US version of the streaming service, it stole the top spot with over 12.8million viewers in the last seven days, and more than 23.3million hours viewed in total.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"VENOM: THE LAST DANCE \u2013 Official Trailer (HD)\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/__2bjWbetsA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The movie beat out stiff competition from Despicable Me 2-4, the Minions Movie, Uncharted and La Dolce Villa for the crown.<\/p>\n<p>This may come as a surprise to some as it has a 40% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics, compared to an 80% ranking from the audience.<\/p>\n<p>Radio Times\u2019 Patrick Cremona slammed: \u2018Like the previous entries, it&#8217;s also something of a tonal jumble, part goofy buddy comedy, part po-faced sci-fi tale, with neither passing muster on their own, never mind awkwardly stitched together.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>John Serba from Decider agreed: \u2018It\u2019s all so pointlessly silly, and loud, so so very loud, and very much aware of how silly and loud it is, because that seems to be the desperately stupid goal of these films.\u2019<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"270\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22675392 lazyload\" alt=\"Undated film still handout from Venom: The Last Dance.
