Fans are realising they recognise Samantha Quan, who accepted Anora’s best picture Oscar, from one of the most beloved rom-coms of all time.

At the Academy Awards at the weekend, the Independent film Anora scooped the coveted best picture award, along with four other major awards, including best director, best editing, best original screenplay and best actress for Mikey Madison.

Accepting the best picture award was Canadian actress and producer Samantha Quan, who produced Anora alongside her husband Sean Baker who directed the film.

Although she has been applauded for producing three of her husband’s films, Quan was previously an actress and appeared in several popular TV series, including CSI: Miami, House, and Elementary.

Most notably, fans are realising that she was a minor character in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, an iconic romantic comedy that was released in 2003.

The film focuses on a journalist, Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson), who is writing an article about how ‘to lose a giy in 10 days’ and targets Benjamin Barry (Matthew McConaughey) for her article, a man working in advertising who happens to have made a bet that he can make any woman fall in love with him in 10 days.

In a minor role in the film, Samantha appears as one of Andie’s coworkers Lori who is incredibly ‘upbeat’.

In one scene of the film, Lori says in a meeting: ‘Well, the botox for beginners piece is done now, It’s a little scary but mostly upbeat!

‘Now I’m on “What your gyno won’t tell you,” which is also pretty scary. But, you know, upbeat!

‘I finished my research on deadly pedicures about the woman who contracted that fungus from the unsterilized tools. It’s a terrible story. Although, surprisingly, upbeat!’

In another scene, she is the coworker to announce to Andie that Ben has sent her huge bouquets of flowers.
