Metroid Prime 4 was a given, as one of the only first party Switch titles left for 2025, but other popular rumours included <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/12\/06\/nintendo-switch-2-launch-june-may-event-claims-insider-22139669\/\">a Kirby: Planet Robobot remaster<\/a>, something <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/27\/smash-bros-rumoured-todays-nintendo-direct-director-hints-reveal-22801639\/\">Super Smash Bros. related<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/24\/nintendo-direct-rumoured-this-week-hollow-knight-silksong-gets-update-22778409\/\">a new trailer for Silksong<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Those rumours didn&#8217;t prove correct but others, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/27\/nintendo-really-bringing-back-two-niche-franchises-switch-2026-22804968\/\">the return of a beloved niche franchise<\/a>, did. Most excitingly of all though the compilation includes a brand new game: Salamander 3. The arcade conversions are by M2, who are the best of the best when it comes to this sort of thing, but we\u2019re not clear who\u2019s making the new game. The first is a new Rhythm Paradise game called Rhythm Paradise Groove, with its collection of rhythm mini-games slated for 2026.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Virtual Game Cards<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Introducing virtual game cards (Nintendo Switch)\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gcAgJEo98fE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Nintendo didn\u2019t just have new games to share. It also unveiled Virtual Game Cards, which serve as a new method for sharing your games across multiple Switch consoles. You can also lend them to friends, although only for two weeks at a time. The first two games will arrive on April 15 while <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/12\/16\/monument-valley-3-review-best-new-video-game-netflix-22192896\/\">Monument Valley 3<\/a>, which was initially exclusive to Netflix, will follow in the summer.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Everybody\u2019s Golf Hot Shots<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"EVERYBODY&#039;S GOLF: HOT SHOTS \u2013 Announcement Trailer \u2013 Nintendo Switch\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_soRIxTOr6M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The other surprise PlayStation related announcement, Everybody\u2019s Golf is getting its first new entry in years and it\u2019s going multiplatform. Amusingly titled Everybody\u2019s Golf Hot Shots (Hot Shots Golf is what the series was called in the US), Bandai Namco is publishing it for Switch (as well as Patapon) while Sony handles bringing it to PlayStation 5 and PC.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Marvel Cosmic Invasion<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Marvel Cosmic Invasion \u2013 Announcement Trailer \u2013 Nintendo Switch\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ug6EqQz0Zx0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>One of the best third party surprises of the Direct was this brand new 2D scrolling beat \u2018em-up from DotEmu, makers of the excellent <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2020\/04\/29\/streets-rage-4-review-sega-mega-drive-genesis-ps4-switch-12628441\/\">Streets Of Rage 4<\/a>. To be honest you almost don\u2019t need to know any more than that, given that pedigree, but the game features 15 characters, with the ability to tag team between two of them at any time. The main bad guy appears to be Annihilus, who is primarily a Fantastic Four villain. The game will be out this winter on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, as well as Switch.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream comes to Nintendo Switch in 2026!\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DbyvlzPxpxw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The final game reveal of the Direct turned out to be a new entry in Nintendo\u2019s series of life sims starring the Miis. Doubling as a calendar, it\u2019s a way for Nintendo to deliver updates and announcements directly to its fans.
