An escape movie based on a jaw-dropping true story is now streaming on Netflix (Picture: Ian Routledge)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

An \u2018underrated\u2019 thriller film based on a real-life prison escape <\/a>has been released on Netflix<\/a>.<\/p>\n

First hitting screens in 2020<\/a>, Escape from Pretoria was based on the memoir Inside Out: Escape from Pretoria Prison by Tim Jenkin.<\/p>\n

In 1979 he famously escaped from South Africa<\/a>\u2019s Pretoria Local Prison with Stephen Lee and Alex Moumbaris.<\/p>\n

The anti-apartheid activist was part of the African National Congress, a liberation movement that has since become a political party<\/a> that has governed the country since 1994.<\/p>\n

But in 1978 he and Lee were arrested for their work but were not told of their charges or their rights.<\/p>\n

They were eventually charged with \u2018producing and distributing 18 different pamphlets on behalf of banned organisations\u2019 including the ANC and urging people to join the liberation movement.<\/p>\n

It also sends a message that even ordinary people, not just superheroes, can and should stand up against evil. A must-see movie and well worth 10 stars,\u2019 markmarno-52839 shared.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I was absolutely stunned about everything in this movie, it had everything: outstanding acting performance, suspense from the first to the last scene, and a moving story based on a true story.
