href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/09\/09\/netflix-fans-thrilled-one-best-movies-time-gets-sequel-21573744\/\"> a beloved 90s comedy<\/a> was released.<\/p>\n<p>In 1996 <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2020\/09\/11\/adam-sandlers-best-film-of-all-time-has-been-chosen-and-we-have-questions-13258212\/\">the sports comedy film Happy Gilmore<\/a> hit screens.<\/p>\n<p>Starring<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/adam-sandler\/\"> Adam Sandler<\/a> in the title role, it followed a failed ice hockey player who discovered a talent for golf when chasing money to stop the foreclosure of his grandmother\u2019s house.<\/p>\n<p>While he finds success in paid tournaments,<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2021\/02\/17\/adam-sandler-reignites-happy-gilmore-feud-as-film-turns-25-14095358\/\"> he also causes a stir<\/a> for his skill and unconventional behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>Although the film was met with mixed reviews from critics, it was a commercial success and earned $41.2 million (\u00a331.6 million) against a $12 million (\u00a39.2 million) Julie Bowen, Allen Covert, Dennis Dugan, Christopher McDonald and Ben Stiller all reprise their roles while a string of professional golfers, Eminem and<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/08\/21\/long-awaited-sequel-90s-film-will-feature-unexpected-travis-kelce-cameo-21466011\/\"> Travis Kelce will also make cameos<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This week the movie\u2019s trailer was released and shows Happy coming out of retirement and continuing to shake the golf world up \u2013 taking to the green in a jersey and Timberlands.<\/p>\n<p>However, he is I hope they kept it comedic. We didn\u2019t want to let anybody down. People have been asking me for a long time. We\u2019re really excited about it. We wrote our asses off.
